Wyndham NY is set to host the Worlds Best UCI Downhill and XC racers for the fourth time in its history. With continuous improvements to both XC and DH tracks and one of the most competitive series seen in years the little town just north of New York City will be rocking with racing excitement and evening frivolity.
Windham World Cup organizers are planning numerous community events to make sure a trip to the Catskills is worth the effort. The events include an indoor/outdoor expo, a block party in downtown Windham (which I can attest is off the hook!), a laser and music show, Race the World amateur cross-country and downhill races, and a Kids’ Fun Race. Additional activities for racers and spectators alike will celebrate the uniqueness of the Windham area throughout the weeklong event, including a Ride the Plank Challenge, where riders attempt to cross a pond on wooden planks supported only by inflatable tubes floating on water and the Red Bull Berm Burners, an individual head-to-head pursuit dirt cycling race that tests the rider’s ability between two fast, steep berms.
Unlike every other race on the circuit, the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano at Windham is principally funded by private donations, along with the support and resources of Windham Mountain. The event is organized by a team of local Windham supporters and racing enthusiasts and hundreds of community volunteers who come together to organize and run this world-class event.

Mont-Ste- Anne Round Up - Three Time World Champion Goes back on Top
The Podium Boys - Super happy to see Sam Hill on the top step once again.
The Wydham NY race follows Mont-Ste-Anne race where Sam Hill showed his dominance on a track where he has several victories including his third World Championship.
Muddy tracks and hot, humid weather made the course even more challenging for the seventh stop of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup presented by Shimano at Mont-Ste-Anne, Canada, but the Swiss cross country riders Jolanda Neff (Liv Pro XC) and Nino Schurter (Scott-Odlo) came out on top.
For the Elite Women’s Cross Country, Neff, the Under-23 world champion and the current lead in the overall standings, shot to the front of the pack on the first lap and never looked back. She finished a minute prior to hometown favorite Catharine Pendrel (Luna) who came in second. Katerina Nash (CZE, Luna) placed third.
American riders Lea Davison (Specialized Racing XC) was on the podium in fourth place and Georgia Gould (Luna) placed 15th.
For the Elite Men’s Cross Country, it was neck and neck between Nino Schurter (SUI, Scott-Odlo) and Julien Absalon (FRA, BMC), who have passed the top spot on the podium back and forth all season. Schurter won by 15 seconds over Absalon and increased his place in the overall standings. Dan McConnell (AUS, Trek Factory Racing) took third. And the Flückiger brothers completed the podium, with Lukas (SUI, BMC) taking fourth place and Mathias (SUI, Stockli) taking fifth. Top U.S rider Stephen Ettinger came in 33rd place with a time of 1:46:41.
For the downhill racers, Manon Carpenter (GBR, Madison Saracen)took her third win of the season and Sam Hill (AUS, Chainreactioncycles.com/Nukeproof) took his third World Cup win at Mont-Ste-Anne, his first since 2009.
In the Women’s Elite, the top three finished mere hundredths of a second apart with Carpenter in first, Rachel Atherton (GBR, GT Factory) in second at 4:48.009 and Emmeline Ragot (FRA, Lapierre Gravity Republic) in third at 4:48.056. Top U.S downhill rider Jill Kintner finished in 21st on the tough course.
For the Men’s Elite, Hill led the way with the fastest qualifying time and the only time under 4:11, but was followed closely by round four winner Josh Bryceland (GBR, Santa Cruz Syndicate) less than a second behind and Danny Hart (GBR, Giant Factory) in third. Troy Brosnan (AUS, Specialized Racing DH) finished fourth and held onto the lead in the overall standings.
Top U.S rider Aaron Gwin (Specialized Racing DH) came in sixth and Neko Mulally (Trek World Racing) came in 17th.
On the fourth round of the Men’s Cross Country Eliminator, Simon Gegenheimer (GER) took first, Catriel Andres Soto (ARG, MMR Bikes) took second and Fabrice Mels (BEL, Salcano Alanya) took third.
