The 2011 Mountain Bike Gravity Nationals - Beech Mountain, NC
September 23-25, 2011

While many in the Mountain bike scene are done for the year, the season is far from over for downhillers and slalom racers with the title of US National Champ still up for grabs. With Interbike out of the way and world champs settled - it's time for all you red blooded american thrill seekers to get your carcass out to Beech Mountain, North Carolina this weekend.

After quite a few years on the west side of country, the US Nationals are returning to the East Coast on Septemeber 23-25th. This years event will 100% pure gravity as USA Cycling split the gravity and XC national championships events into two seperate events.

Also different for this years format is the fact that bar bangers will be racing for a national title in Dual slalom instead of the 4x (four cross) as in the past. Not sure what the logic is there, but it will be fun regardless and that is what gravity racers do best - have fun.

Favorites for this years Downhill title have to be with defending champ and current World Championship Champion - Aaron Gwynn - going for three in a row.  Fellow world cup campaigners like Mitch Ropelato and Curtis Keene along with  Logan Bingelli, Kevin Aiello and others will be close by incase Gwyn has a mishap.

As For Dual Slalom - well that should go to Mitch Ropelato but with world cup 4x-ers Lear Miller and Blake Carney in the field, and Ropelato's good friend Cody Miller - Ropelato will still have some work to do and need lady luck to stay in his pits before getting to wear the stars and stripes jersey again.

If you are heading out to the event and need information on lodging, registration, course maps or anything, be sure to use THIS LINK - it will link you to everything you need to know to go racing this weekend.
