There is a fresh attitude in the air these days. Enduro racing is bringing mountain bike racing back to the masses and Urban downhill is bringing the extreme side of the sport into our backyards. Until now, the Urban DH scene has been pretty much dominated by extreme Urban events in South America. But we found this little gem running in Lyttleton, New Zealand. Now Kiwis aren't known for their raucus all night parties and CRAAAAZY fans, but they sure put out some fine downhillers and can put a hurtin on you if you're into knocking some heads on a rugby pitch or visiting the local watering hole - but I digress.
This promoter made this a true Urban Downhill with some actual dirt mixed in with man made hucks and of course a staircase. But the Kiwi's went beyond that and threw in a couple of outside-the-box sections that you'll just have to see for yourself.
This course looks fantastically rad to me -props to the organizers and the whole New Zealand riding scene...The top video is from the Chest of Nick Jordan's and the second video is the official video from the organizers.
Almost forgot that the race was won by former Trek World Racing World Cupper and all around good dude - Justin Leov.
