Super D is Alive on the East Coast

Who can blame Super D for being all the rage? We can't. It's what mountain biking is in its purest form.  More descents than climbs but at least you have to be in some kind of shape and have skills to rip it up going down.

Anyway I digress. If you live anywhere near the east side of the good ol USA or are a European friend coming across the pond for a bike vacation - then you are in luck, cause the East Coast gravity scene is alive and kicking with some Super D Events of their own this year.

First up are a couple of cool little events by EnduroRama that will consist of two events that include bike demo's:

The events are more Enduro than Super D but it sounds really interesting with a time trial format. They claim to be a more social event and not a super technical as some races, but I have never seen dudes on bikes not be competitive - so it is a race and will be for all levels so check out their story here at Endurorama

• July 22, 2012: Walking Purchase Park (Bethlehem, PA)

massanutten resort from the airThen there are some events in Virginia at the Massanutten resort (pictured left). Even though I have never heard of it, It looks beautiful and offers some killer XC too. It must be pretty good because this year they are also hosting a round of the US Triple Cup. You can scope out their gravity and XC racing schedule here.

Next is a little race at Bear Creek  - It won't be too big - but from chatting with riders from the coast, I bet it will be fun. They are looking to get a minimum of 75 riders by March 15 so don't sit on the fence, commit already - then you will have an excuse for begging off the misses in August. If they get the 75, the promoter will put on a second Super D event also. You can register for the event here.

The event Details are:

Presented by South Mountain Cycle - be sure to stop by their shop (tell em Bicycle World TV sent you over and they'll give you a free bike (not really but try anyway) and say thanks or buy a tube or something to show your support.
