Tired of being bombarded with talk of suspension platforms, shock valving, 11 speed, electronic shifting this, fork settings that and more marketing that riding? Well, A German guy named Frank Scheider aka "Schneidi" shows you how real men ride. In fact he won the Mega Avalanche on his single speed Hard Tail.
Yep. you read it right, a hard tail with a gates belt drive single speed. Passing 39 riders from the top of the Glacier to the finish line, Schneider took out the win and an overall second place in the Enduro series on a Nicolai hard tail, equipped with a Gates Carbon drive belt.
Now just in case you think this is a revolutionary type bike, it is not. The Gates Carbon belt drive has been around a while on Spot Bikes and the 6" travel hard tail bike is a popular choice in Whistlers XC scene as climbs can be long and downhills are pretty technical. But all props are due to Schneider for racing this type of bike in major pro race and winning with it!
Check out this video of Schneider ripping up trail on his hard tail. It's no 40 foot hucks but it never gets old watching speed.
