When it comes to promoting the bicycle lifestyle few companies have taken the lead to jump into mainstream media to make their point. But this Dutch bicycle company has done just that. VanMoof Bike company, a Dutch bike builder made a bicycle tv commercial that went right to the heart of the "cars are coffins" theme by showing the bad side effects of automobiles in our culture. Their message is so hard hitting that France has banned the commercial from airing citing that the brand has created a "Climate of Fear" around automobiles.
The good news is that someone in France is actually watching and policing the commercials. The bad new is, the ad is really good. And I suspect it hits a little too close to home. It must be good to earn the badge of getting bicycle banned...The ad reminds me of Apple's 1984 ad campaign that still ranks as the highest recall commercial ever.
I am curious what your thoughts are on the ad. If you have an opinion, can you post it on our Facebook page where you most likely saw this story?
Has the ad gone to far? You be the judge.
