Pivot unveils Firebird 27.5

It was just last year when I asked Chris Cocalis when he would be releasing a 650 B bike into his mountain line up. Chris, a seasoned veteran kept his poker face on and said nothing. Those lack of words said everything to me and here we stand to today showing the world the New Firebird 27.5 race rig.

The Pivot Firebird 27.5

Just in time to wet your whistle at The Sea Otter. If you are going to the bike festival in Monterey - you must stop by the Pivot Bike booth and get a gander at this. I must warn you, you won't e alone. It will be crazy busy over there with this announcement.

While I am shredding my Mach 5.7, I can only wonder what this beauty rides like. If the Mach 5.7 is on the cross country side of enduro rigs, the Firebird must be closer to the DH side as it features a full inch more of travel.

Having to miss the Otter for the first time in eight years...I am already having withdrawls. Since this isn't a full review of the FIrebird 27.5" I will share with you some of the spec highlights. You'll just have to wait for the real Bicycle World review to come out.

  • 6.6" (167mm) rear travel.
  • dw-link suspension design with rearward wheel travel path. Incredible square edge bump performance and unparalleled pedaling efficiency.
  • Pivot specific, custom valved Fox CTD or DHX Kashima coated shock technology featuring increased rider tunability and incredible small bump sensitivity.
  • Full 1.5 head tube with custom Pivot angled headset design optimizing the Firebird 27.5 as an ultimate Enduro machine.
  • ISCG O5 mounts included for single ring and chain guide compatibility.
  •  Patented Pivot floating front derailleur mount. Keeps the chain in the sweet spot of the derailleur for better chain retention. Combined with our custom MRP LRP 2X chain guide, our floating front derailleur mount creates  perfect shifting performance and worry-free chain retention even the roughest conditions.
