Attention gravity freaks, if you are looking for some sweet goggles here is a new name for you to consider. Dean Optics.
Founded by a long time industry insider and former racer Jeremiah Dylan Dean, Dean optics are straight forward goggles with a solid fit and quality materials. So why do I pass this info along to you, after all, they are just goggles? Well Dean Optics isn't here to recreate the wheel, but give you another offering to choose from. A product that is priced right and not full of gimmicks or advertising BS.
As a former racer and current marketing consultant Dean is one of those people who have done so much to keep gravity riding on the forefront and alive in the US. Plus Dean knows what he is doing. Riders like Justin Leov and Multi World Champion Sabrina Jonnier are already using them. Supporting a brand whose founder actually creates races and racing opportunities for all you gravity geeks should be enough to give the new Trooper goggle a look.
Going beyond the loyalty pitch, the goggles are claimed to have outstanding peripheral vision characteristics and fit in every helmet. Dean Optics also added tear off posts like motocross goggles - unique in the MTB google arena.
NOTE - These are MTB specific goggles with tough lens' and flexibility in the frames where it's needed. Every industry has great products that perform equally as well or better than the ones with big marketing budgets and Dean Optics is one of those. The color options are pretty basic with Red, White, Blue and Black frames and a pretty cool band. But knowing Dylan and his creative skills, word on the street is he is already working on the next gen graphics to be truly sic. If graphics are your thing then wait for the next generation. If you're like me and prefer to let your riding do the talking then the current versions are the ticket. As of this writing, the goggles are only available to the US public on-line at Dean Optics. For Canadian riders - Dean Optics goggles will soon be available at your local bike shop in the near future as the company has secured a Canadian distributor - DHR Marketing - to manage sales, marketing & athlete relations in the Canadian market.
