Leov and Moseley take PRO GRT Final Event at Whiteface

In what can only be described as a spectacular rebound for the US downhill race scene - thanks 100% to Jeremiah Dylan Dean and no thanks to the USA governing body of cycling - The PRO GRT series wrapped up in Whiteface New York and concluded three straight weeks of racing. Whiteface followed the world championships in Quebec and a world cup at Windham.

In the final major gravity event of the year, the Trek World racing team dominated the top three steps of the podium with Justin Leov winning by an 11 second margin over team mate Andrew Neethling and by 18 seconds over Neko Mulally.

Tracey Moseley, also of the Trek World race team showed why she earned the right to wear her new world championship stripes by crushing the women's field by 37 seconds.

The run at Whiteface took eight minutes for the men and nine plus for the women. Definitely long by world cup standards.

The victory by Leov and Moseley is no surprise after seeing Moseley's confidence skyrocket after winning the world championships and Leov taking second in the Garbonzo DH at whistler earlier in the month.

If Whiteface was dominated by TREK, the PRO GRT overall was dominated by Transition bike. Transition team riders Bryn Atkinson and Jill Kitner won the overall in both men's and women's category. Atkinson was unable to compete in the final round due to a freak hand injury but had build up enough of a points lead to defeat Andrew Neethling to earn the title. Jill Kitner, had an early season battle with Melissa Buhl but pulled away to give Transition Bikes the clean sweep in the overall. (Thanks to Jill Kitners facebook page for the photos)
