Kamikaze Bike Games back at Mammoth this weekend

Seems like it was only yesterday when the center of the mountain biking universe was Mammoth Mountain. Racers on the latest equipment came for the multiple events and rode the same bike pretty much for everyone (sorry marketing managers, it was still all about fun and the excitement of such an extreme sport). No matter what you went to Mammoth for everyone really knew it was all about the Kamikaze Downhill. Legends were made on that fire road. No hucking, just flat out ballsy high speed flat track racing on sketchy tires, some semblance of "suspension" and lycra with wild colors.

But this is a new day and other resort towns have staked their claim to title of mountain biking Mecca. But Mammoth is a town steeped in extreme sports culture with rock climbing,skiing, moto-cross, mountain biking and more in its blood. And, Mammoth Mountain is out to retake its position as a serious contender for title of mountain biking Mecca.

So begins the new tradition of the Kamikaze Bike Games. The organizers of Mammoth Mountain are committed to mountain bikers more than ever. They have invested large amounts of money developing trails to add to their existing terrain. And this weekend, the mountain will be hosting the Kamikaze Bike Games complete with a newer and even faster version of the Kamikaze downhill. Faster because of better equipment, fitter riders and the evolution of the sport. (Did you watch the movie above???) But this event will be bigger and better because the event will have a Speed and Style event, dual slalom, cross country, and host the final round of the USGP Downhill series. In fact there are so many things to do that I am going lazy and letting you read it for yourself on the flyer below. There is something here for everyone in the family including music, kids races and more so make it a weekend and get up to Mammoth for a great weekend of bike related fun.
