Fall Racing on tap at the FURY race in AZ
November 2nd, 2011 9:35pm

If you are feeling like some fall XC racing, there is no better place to do it than Arizona and the 12 & 24 HOURS OF FURY is a good one. Coming up on November 5 and title sponsored by TREK and presented by local mexican restaurant Carlos O'Briens - the two have teamed up to put up some pretty darn good prizes for this years event at McDowell Mtn park.
Having raced this event last year, the Four Peaks Racing guys do a great job at keeping the chaos organized. Beside the great prizes, the race is held on the same course where many a national XC race was held. The hybrid-brid sport-tech-long loop at McDowell is one of the most flowy courses you will ever ride on. No monster climbs, but enough short punchy ones to make it hurt as the laps roll by.
This event is great for endurance riders who want to go it alone for 12 or 24 hours and even non-endurance riders can team up in duo and quad teams.
The weather this time of year is usually PERFECT and adds some incentive to signing up. FYI - This facility has great tent and RV camping for $18 a night and over 60 miles of trails around the park most of which can be ridden by beginners. It is great for getting people stoked on the sport. If you are advanced, ride it FAST, and find some of the climbs up toward the mountain, it will give you a work out and put a huge smile on your face.
According to the Promoters website, cash prizes are for 24 hour racers only - but don't let that keep you from competing and having fun on your bike. That is what it is all about anyway right?!
Here are the Details of the race. Be sure to tell them Bicycle World TV sent you!
