The Dust Devil Mountain Bike Series has been a part of the mountain bike events calendar for nearly 20 years and DCB Extreme Adventures has been organizing it for the better part of the last decade. It’s a pre-cursor to the State or MBAA series and the true mountain bike season.
This series caters to all walks of mountain biking; those who are at the top of the field and are preparing for the season as well as the beginner who is trying on a new sport. There is also a FREE kids event for children 14 and under!
We, DCB Extreme Adventures and Maricopa County Parks invite you to join us this season for a little something different. Come out and enjoy yourself. We have tons of fun coming your way at every Dust Devil Event. Get on out and have fun with DCB!

Click here to view course maps for all three courses
MARATHON
The Marathon is 39.2 miles which is four laps around the Sport to Tech to Long Loop. If you're participating in the Marathon, you won't be able to do the Time Trail or Cross Country events since they're running simultaneously. You can choose which events you want to participate in during the registration process.
TIME TRIAL
One loop, as fast as you can... This is a 3.0 mile course around the Sport to Tech Loop. Compare yourself to others apples to apples. Think the CAT 1‘s are so much faster? We’ll see after this season is over.
Participants need to check in for the time trial in their category at least 30 minutes before start time. The first rider starts off at 8:00am followed by a rider every 30 seconds. The CAT one’s will start first but the starts will be continuous. This will be limited to 50 entries (if it’s popular, we will modify the format to give everyone a chance at the next two events). Everyone must be in line and on time for this to work!
CROSS COUNTRY
The competitive track was designed specifically for cross-country mountain bike racing and is between 9.0 and 27.4 miles depending on which category you sign up for. Please read your specific category's description at the Mountain Biking Frequently Asked Questions page so you are prepared come race day and check out the map link above to see each category's respective distance.
KIDS RACE
Kids participate in a 3.0 mile non-technical loop designed to be fun for each rider. We’ve had riders as young as 4 years old participating in the kids race so don’t hesitate to bring out the little ones!
We need chaperones to ride with the kids through the course. Please contact us via our Contact page to express interest and receive further details.
Not sure what category you should sign up for? Category descriptions can be found at our Mountain Biking Frequently Asked Questions page. During registration you'll need to select your event course (above) as well as what category rider you are.

Once again the McDowell race will be home to the Southwest Collegiate Cycling Championship! Come and cheer on the College mountain bikers!
We will have Kachina Medical Rescue personal and DCB staff on the course. On the mountain bike there will be a feed zone for riders to utilize. Don't forget to grab a bite and a drink at the post-race food tent.
This year, a rider of similar skills will be assigned to each group to communicate the course laps and provide the pre-race meeting.
All of the Dust Devil events are sanctioned by USA Cycling (NORBA). One of the conditions of sanctioning is that each athlete must be either an annual membership (and provide proof of such) or purchase a one day license for $5 also, please remember to bring your photo ID. Although the kid's race is free each participant must have a one day license and sign the waiver.
Entry to the park is $6. It is the athletes responsibility to pay for and display their parking pass. Please park in designated areas.
