With perfect conditions at Whistler this year, the riding has been better than ever with record race times being being set in almost every race. And Canadian favorite Steve Smith is finally starting to hit his stride by dominating both the Garbonzo Downhill and the Air DH race on the world famous A-Line. Both wins are the first time Steve has ever won these events. To add a little icing on the cake - Steve beat Brian Lopes in the Air DH by a solid 5 seconds.
Moving on to the pump track we saw three peat wins by both Mitch Ropelato and Jill Kitner. Here are the videos of each event for you to check out. They are the condensed synopsis of the race so you don't have to burn a whole day watching to get the buzz.
We will be getting more video and shots from the dirt jump competition as they occur. So watch these and live vicariously through these riders who are able to be in Whistler and ride they way they do.
This is a little competition that started off as a bunch of guys having fun on the then new Crabapple table tops. Like all Whistler jumps they were perfectly build. But the Crabapple tables became instantly popular and perfect for huge tail whips. Anytime you have 45 foot booters, cameras come out. Well, with all the fun banter the impromptu contest began. Lets hope this pure fun doesn't get ruined by commercialism. Good thing they let Brett Tippie have the mic to keep it legit...
