Bike Magazine LogoSan Juan Capistrano (March 24, 2009)— Bike Magazine received a double-shot of good news last week when it learned that it had been selected as a finalist in two categories of the WPA Maggie Awards. B

ike’s June 2008 issue, dedicated to Pain and Suffering, was nominated for Best Theme Issue. Even more impressive, the magazine was also selected as one of the Best Overall magazines in the Outdoor, Sports, Boating and Recreation Category, based on the quality of its July 2008 issue devoted to Ultimate Adventures. Winners will be selected at the 58th Annual Maggie Awards, held at the Westin Hotel in Los Angeles, California, on April 24.

The awards are organized by the Western Publishing Association. This year’s awards include more than 400 finalists in 78 categories, chosen from 1300 entries. “Creating a magazine like Bike is hard, often thankless work, says Bike Editor Lou Mazzante. “Being selected as a finalist in two categories is well-deserved recognition for the effort that Bike’s staff and contributors continue to pour in the magazine. We haven’t won anything yet, but this certainly motivates us to produce the highest-quality magazine possible—one that continues to inspire our readers to get out and ride. PS- Bike Magazine is a great publication if you are MTB - the writing is purely entertaining, the photos are great and their goal is the same as ours. In fact, Bike Magazine is one of the inspirations for Bicycle World TV.
