After a successful 2011 season sponsoring an ever growing cross country team and racking up multiple race wins and podiums including the class win in La Ruta, Bicycle World TV is expanding it's rider support to include a Super D team for 2012.
The two person team is made of Dennis Yuroshek and Carolynn Romaine - both east coast transplants who came west to battle it out in the deep west coast talent pool. The two have already made their presence felt with victories in the competitive Southridge Winter Race series in both Super D and DH. Yuroshek took the overall Super D win the recent Fontana City National.

For the 2012 seaon, the pair plan on competing in the Oregon Super D season, at the US Nationals, The Whole Enchilada, Downieville and some select Downhill events. The pair will also be making a video series covering their life on the road living the life of privateers chasing the dream. The series can be seen on Bicycle World TV starting in May.
Why Super D?
Bicycle World TV founder Dean Henthorn fell in love with mountain biking riding the technical, gravity fed lines on South Mountain in Arizona and moved toward cross country because that was more easily available. Now that Super D and Enduro Downhill has started to catch on, he is more than happy to support this segment with the new team. Having been around the gravity world for the last couple of years as Director of Action Sports at Five Ten and getting back into riding the gravity scene he saw how much fun this group was having - which is exactly what riding is all about.
In getting to ride with some of the biggest names in the sport Henthorn started seeing who the real rippers were and was impressed. Most guys can ride either cross country or DH, but Super D riders can usually rip both. With Super D, you also get to ride one bike that can do everything pretty well. While manufacturers are making more and more specific bikes for their intended purpose, it kind of forces you to have three bikes. With a good Super D bike you can ride both kinds of terrain with confidence.
"I personally think Super D is great because it gets your adrenaline going more than cross country and doesn't require you to have the right "gene pool" or spend ridiculous amounts of money to be competitive" - "I also like that you still have to climb to earn your vertical stripes...It's just a more rewarding ride for me personally." stated Henthorn.
Bicycle World TV chooses Pivot Mach 5.7
When it comes to putting a team together, you want your riders to have the best possible stuff out there without blowing the entire budget. There has to be a good performance vs. cost vs. dependability mix. Having tested lots of bikes, the crew at BW TV really liked the Pivot and made it our first choice. We were lucky to get some support from them. Having personally purchased a Pivot several years ago after reviewing one, Henthorn was stoked about the quality and performance of the brand. The team will be adding gravity dropper seat posts and a few other personal touches before they hit the open road for the summer.
Be sure to look for Dennis and Carolynn at a race near you. They will be traveling in their new sprinter van decked out with the new Bicycle World TV logo and if you are nice to them, you may get some shwag and make a couple of new friends. You can find out which races they are going to by "liking our facebook page" or Join our email list.
