The first Cross country race of the season in the US kicked off in the usual fashion in Arizona during the first round of the MBAA race schedule. Nearly 900 racers showed up to compete in the annual season kickoff that happens a the McDowell Mountain Park in Fountain Hills.
With industry news telling us the bike sales are flat, the mountain scene in Arizona is anything but that. In fact, Arizona is on a huge growth trajectory that defies most of the country. Spurred by the success of the Arizona High School league the cross country race scene in Arizona is BOOMING. It doesnt hurt that fastest U21 rider in the country came out of this league or a handful of other fast riders. But it is a great reflection of what a solid board of directors and great trails can provide.
