The 4th stop of the Pro Mountain Bike Gravity Tour sets to kick off this weekend (August 14-16) in Windham, New York for the Yankee Clipper East Coast National! For the 2nd year in a row, Windham will host this nationally recognized event, which will be the prelude to the UCI World Cup finals in 2010! The Pro GRT downhill should be one to watch as only TEN (10) points separates the top four men! Series leader Kain Leonard (Crested Butte Mtn Sports) sits just ONE (1) point ahead of Chris Heath (Manitou-Hayes), however Chris Boice (Yeti-FoxShox) and Aaron Gwin (Yeti-FoxShox) sit just within striking distance! In the women’s field, Darian Harvey (Cannondale) has a bit more of a comfortable lead over the field, but will be determined to maintain her advantage through the final rounds.
This will be anyone’s game & will sure come down to the end to determine the first Pro GRT DH series winner! Windham will mark the finale of the Pro GRT Gated series. 2009 US 4X Champion & series leader Mitch Ropelato (Café Rio – Canfield Bros) has a sizeable lead over the field & barring any mistakes should see gold at the end! However, that will not distress the field as they do their best to upset this young pinner! Series leader Jackie Harmony (Vixen Racing) looks to assert herself as the women’s gated champion, but with Darian Harvey & others hot on her tail, she’ll have a tough battle on her hands. UCI POINTS OFFERED! Don’t forget, for any professional rider looking for those crucial UCI points to participate at the World Cups, here’s your chance! Windham has stepped up and will be offering UCI Category 1 points! That means top 5 automatically receive enough points to qualify for World Cup racing …& points flow 25 riders deep!
